The Mentoring Initiative is an alliance with the Friendship Volunteer Center and local advocates for the expansion of youth mentoring programs throughout the county. We are driven by recommendations that followed a school dropout prevention study conducted by SCOPE.

We have created a single point of entry for anyone who wants to become a mentor to a young person in our community. We are currently connected with 20 organizations that focus on mentoring to make it easy for volunteers to find the right fit.

Mentoring Initiative Training

The Initiative in collaboration with the Nonprofit Resource Center is creating a new training program for mentors.  The goal of the training is to help people become more comfortable and confident in mentoring youth.  It is designed to supplement the training provided by the area mentoring agencies, just to provide some preliminary information for those interested in getting involved. For more information contact the Friendship Volunteer Center.
